We built HexClad on the belief that exceptional tools elevate what's possible in the kitchen. Food for Soul proved that what's possible goes far beyond the plate.
Founded by renowned chef Massimo Bottura and Lara Gilmore, Food for Soul created the innovative cultural project known as the Refettorio - a community dining experience where beauty and hospitality transform excess imperfect ingredients into nourishing, dignified meals for people who need them most. The model has evolved into a global network of nonprofit partners operating Refettorio projects to reduce food waste and foster social inclusion.
From Harlem to London, San Francisco to Sydney, each Refettorio reflects its local community while uniting around the cause, ensuring everyone the dignity of a beautiful meal.
HexClad is proud to support that work. We are equipping Refettorio kitchens around the world with high-performance cookware and kitchen tools so the chefs and volunteers inside them can focus on what matters most. We are also engaging our community of chefs, culinary professionals, and creators to help expand awareness of Food for Soul's mission through volunteer programs, storytelling, and future Refettorio openings.
Because we believe the same thing they do: Cooking isn't just craft. It's care.
Food for Soul believes in the transformative power of food.
Through the global Refettorio network, surplus food rescued from waste becomes nourishing meals served with dignity, transforming spaces into places of shared beauty, hospitality, and belonging for those most vulnerable. Each Refettorio reimagines the kitchen as a place of culinary creativity and the table as a place to connect, build community, and care for people and the planet.
“Food has the power to bring people together. With HexClad's support, we strengthen the capacity of our Refettorio partners, helping them to nourish more communities and demonstrate hospitality as a means of care and connection towards social change.”
— Lara Gilmore, Founder and President, Food for Soul
“We believe great cooking can have an impact beyond the kitchen. This partnership is about supporting a proven model that transforms surplus ingredients into exceptional meals while creating spaces where people feel welcomed and valued.”
— Daniel Winer, CEO and Co-Founder, HexClad

Together, we're proving that what happens in the kitchen can change the world beyond it.
